AOE live shows
End Of I
After 10 years of silence, right before the covid-19 pandemic, AOE returned with ‘End Of I’. The message was clear: to face the new challenges that arise nowadays, extreme egocentric behaviour will not move us forward. Collaboration will be the key.
This album represents the true sound that makes this Belgian one-man project unique: acoustic guitars, combined with dark synths, bombastic orchestration and pounding percussion. All accompanied by vocals that range from intimate whispers to loudly chanting choirs.
Some call it neofolk, other call it dark ambient. Though, categories are the enemy of connecting, while ‘End Of I’ is all about getting in touch and find connection.
Man is a beast, the kings said.
A sinner, the priests said.
A selfish person, the bookkeepers said.
For centuries Western culture has been permeated
with the belief in the depravity of man.
But what if we were wrong all the time?
